New York: 24 January 1983. One page letter in blue ink on Nixon's personal stationery, signed with initials "RN", the letter addressed to "Aileen (Suzy)," with original mailing envelope. Usual folds, else fine; Together with NIXON, RICHARD. The Real War. New York: Warner Books, 1980. First printing, number 66 of 100 signed copies, inscribed by Nixon to Aileen Mehle in 1981. Publisher's cloth in slipcase. Minor wear to slipcase.
A very complimentary letter from the former President thanking Mehle her an article written after a luncheon hosted by Nixon and his wife, Pat: "I marvel at your powers of observation and your fabulous memory. You made no notes and got every fact exactly right. I wish some of your colleagues in the media had your dedication to excellence & your sense of fairness."
