21 1/8 x 10 3/4 inches (53.5 x 27.4 cm)
Provenance:
Purchased in Rome, 1955
It has been suggested that Velazquez executed this study during his first visit to Rome in 1629-30.

Additional Notes & Condition Report

Laid down to a sheet of cardboard. There is a roughly rectangular notch easuring approximately 4 x 2 1/2 inches cut out of the sheet at the upper left. Losses to the sheet along the lower margin. Water staining along the right and upper margins. A horziontal crease through the center indicating that the sheet was at one time in a sketch book. Other horizontal creases; abrasion; occasional small stains; nicks around the edges.
