Huebnerite
Pasto Bueno, Peru
A specimen of lustrous and prismatic reddish black opaque crystals, which is characteristic of Huebnerite, which shows reddish reflections at thin and translucent sections, distinguishing it from Ferberite which is dead black, there is also presence of Manganese instead of Iron. Nesting between the Huebnernite crystals are forests of smaller Quartz crystals adding another dimension to this dramatic specimen. Huebnernite crystals look strong, but are quite brittle and a few show normal wear not detracting from the piece. Being well terminated and striated with average sizes being 5 x 2.5 cm and the Quartz about 1 cm, some of which are growing like branches. A highly desirable specimen worthy of a grand collection. Overall size approximately 26 x 17 x 13 cm.
