Tiffany & Co. Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze and Green Marble Clock Garniture
Late 19th/early 20th century
Comprising a mantel clock, the circular white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, flanked by allegoral figures emblematic of Philosophy and Study, surmounted by an eagle finial, and a pair of covered urns with swan-form handles. Height of clock 20 1/4 inches, width 26 3/4 inches.
This clock is modeled after a late 18th century design by Francois Remond in which the two figures were to be executed in porcelain by the Sevres Manufactory.

clock: protective glass plate is cracked; shallow flake clip losses to one of the winding key holes; uniform wear/dulling to the gilding; one of the small pins or screws that secures the metal mount to the curved end of the marble base on the right facing side is now missing; no winding key; please note Doyle New York cannot make any representation or warranty regarding the working condition of this or any other clock in this sale, please assume this clock is not in working condition and will require professional servicing

urns: covers are affixed; each appears to be in generally good condition; chip losses to the rim edges of each square base; restored area to one corner edge and small area of loss to another corner rim edge; there is a stress or firing crack that extends across the neck of the swam handles, where the mount comes into contact with the neck of the urn; wear and dulling to the gilding, appropriate to age and usage; appears to retain all its mounts and the mounts appear to be consistent, including the feet
