Swoon, aka Caledonia Curry, employs woodblock and linocut prints, creating massive installations comprising German Expressionist influenced portraits of friends and family. Part of the 2009 Venice Biennale, Swoon debuted the Swimming Cities of Serenissima, which were floating installations that sailed from Slovenia into the Venice lagoon, all constructed from New York City recyclables and garbage. Swoon also oversees and coordinates charitable programs such as the Konbit Shelter, which builds housing and community shelters in Haiti, and Transformazium, a project devoted to the re-use of derelict buildings located in Braddock, PA.
