Doyle New York’s auction of Coins, Bank Notes and Postage Stamps on November 11, 2013 demonstrated the strength of the current market by far surpassing expectations. The sale featured a wide selection of United States and World coins, bank notes, medals, and stamps, including proof sets and many rarities from a number of prominent collections and estates

Highlighting the sale was a United States 1855 Wass Molitor & Co. $50 gold coin from the Estate of Margaret Truman Daniel, the daughter of U.S. President Harry S. Truman and his wife, First Lady Bess Truman. Strong interest in the coin and its provenance sent the bidding well over the estimate of $10,000-15,000 to achieve $33,000.

With competitive bidding from buyers in the salesroom, on the telephones, and on the Internet, the sale totaled $348,180, far surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $156,400-2128,950, with an exceptionally strong 97% sold by lots and 95% sold by value.

All prices include the Buyer's Premium.
