Korean Gilt-Wood Teaching Buddha
Choson Dynasty, 19th century
Seated in dharmachakra mudra on a lotus base, dressed in a long robe secured at the waist and 'jeweled' necklaces, the downcast expression between pendulant earlobes and below the hair gathered into a topknot with long strands knotted and flowing over the shoulders. Height 25 inches.

Age cracks to each hip area to the side of the knee. Some surface loss to the back of the head and to the top knot. Scattered age cracks overall. Base and figure are a marriage. Mandorla is missing. Some loose lotus petals.
