London: William Sams, [n.d., but 1822-24]. Modern half levant with old spine laid down, peacock marbled sides. 14 inches (37 cm). Title leaf (verso blank), initial blank, 42 pp. (consisting 2 pp. of explanation for each plate), and 21 hand-colored aquatint plates; all edges gilt. Some offset from plates to text, generally a clean, fresh copy.
The first edition of the work was published in oblong format. This undated edition is likely the third, which was the first to have the text in upright layout. The plates and text have no watermarks; the plates bear the 1822 date in the engraved imprint. Abbey, Travel, 114; Colas 2898; Lipperheide 1187.
