Robert Louis Stevenson. Promissory note, signed
releasing Arthur King from a debt of thirty pounds twelve shillings (corrected in King's hand to eight pounds), and providing the further amount of ten pounds settling "in full all claims against Mr. Stevenson." 9 lines, dated July 31 1891, Vailima, signed in full "Robert Louis Stevenson," co-signed by King. Approximately 6 7/8 x 4 3/8 inches (17 x 11 cm), single sheet of thin card. Matted with portrait and framed, two holes stamped at right (apparently for docketing purposes), some darkening to the exposed area, two old glue traces from a former mount.
