The Salad Days. London: Collins, 1988. First English edition, inscribed by Fairbanks on the title page "To Sylvia and Bill," dated 1991. Original publisher's navy cloth over black paper boards with dust jacket, 6¼ x 9¼ inches (16 x 24 cm). xiv, 431 pp. Dust jacket rubbed, with a few small tears to the head and tail of the spine, a few stains. Textblock toned commensurate with age, and a bit loose in a few places.
A nice copy of Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.'s entertaining and enlightening memoir, covering his life until 1941, including his tumultuous marriage to Joan Crawford, a few affairs, and many anecdotes of a charmed life in old Hollywood.
