An original manuscript musical quotation from "Over the Rainbow." Manuscript in blue ink on a slip of staff paper with the first four bars of the music written out with the lyrics below, Arlen's name and life dates in an unknown hand added in blue ink above the music. The slip 2 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Slightly toned overall, light wear from handling to edges, loss to lower left corner, slight loss to upper right corner, few light creases to left edge and upper middle edge.

A rare manuscript quote from "Over the Rainbow" in the hand of its composer Harold Arlen. Now a standard of the Great American Songbook, "Over the Rainbow" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 1939 Oscars and became the signature song in the many stage shows of Judy Garland. Such quotations are rare.
