Pair of Late George III Dudley Adams 12-Inch Terrestrial and Celestial Mahogany Table Globes

Dated 1809 and 1810

The Terrestial Globe bearing a cartouche inscribed:

To his most Sacred Majesty George the Third of Great Britain & c, This new globe of the EARTH correctly laid down according to the best Observations & latest Discoveries is most humbly Inscribed By his Majesty's most duthful & obliged Subject & Servant Dudley Adams, Globe & Mathematical Instrument Maker to the King & Optician to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales , Fleet Street, 1811, Donna Maria Laxara

The Celestial Globe bearing a cartouche inscribed:

To his most Sacred MAJESTY GEORGE THE THIRD, This New Celestial Globe Containing all the Southern Constellations lately observed at the Cape of Good Hope, & all the Stars in Flamsteed's British Catalogue is most humbly Inscribed by His Majesty's most dutifull & obliged Subjects & Servant Dudley Adams. Made by D. Adams Globe Maker to the King, Optician to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, Fleet Street, London, 1809.


Each sphere resting on a tripod mahogany stand united by stretchers and centered by a compass rose, the celestial globe dated 1809, the terrestrial globe dated 1811.

Height 23 inches (58.5 cm), diameter of globe 12 inches (30.5 cm).
