Estate / Collection: Property from a Westchester Collector

Russian Royal Presentation Silver Cigarette Case
Karl Albrecht, St. Petersburg, circa 1875
Rectangular with rounded ends, of ribbed openwork design, with an engraved presentation inscription: Berkeley Paget from Albert Edward Prince of Wales / Sandringham 1875. Length 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm).

The inscription on the present lot seems to refer to Berkeley Paget (1841-1910), son of the Honourable Berkeley Thomas Paget (1780-1842), a British politician. Presumably, the case was presented to Paget by Prince Albert Edward (1841-1910) at the royal residence at Sandringham, Norfolk. The future King Edward VII, was born the eldest son and second child of Queen Victoria (1819-1901) and Prince Albert (1819-1861).

Estimated at $1,200 - $1,800
