Al Jaffee's extensive collection of MAD Magazines and other comics

The Personal Collection of Al Jaffee

A large collection of Al Jaffee's comics and MAD magazines, including, a long run of approximately 190 issues of MAD, consisting of sequential issues from the early 2000s to the 2020s (apparently all of the MADs from #393 to #550, and from No. 1 to 8), but also with MAD #86 from April 1964 (featuring Jaffee's first fold-in), one from 1974, one from 1985, and three issues from the 1990s. A few of the covers are signed by Jaffee. The MADs are all housed in plastic magazine holders or manilla envelopes with identifying labels and post-it notes in Jaffee's hand. Generally very good, but some issues are more worn, including # 86, and certain covers have short tears or creased corners; together with, a large group of approximately 200 issues of various MAD titles, all duplicates, including many copies of the Special Al Jaffee issue, as well as other MAD Titles such as Classic MAD, MAD Kids, and some international issues of MAD magazine. Generally fine or near fine, with some issues more worn; and with, a large group of other comics, some of which include cartoons and strips by Jaffee, including Mosiah Times, Sponge Bob Comics, RoyalFlush, Garfield, Alter Ego, various DC titles, and more. Some in plastic boxes, some of these are loose. The entire lot contains approximately 500 comics and magazines. Generally fine, the lot should be seen, and it is sold as is.

Archive of Grace Kelly Letters Achieves $165,600!
In 1949, twenty year old Grace Kelly moved into the Barbizon Hotel for Women in Manhattan, seeking out Broadway auditions and paying modeling gigs. In 1956, Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco in one the greatest fairy tale weddings the world had ever seen. In the years between, Kelly starred in stylish Alfred Hitchcock films such as Rear Window and To Catch a Thief and won an Oscar for her performance in The Country Girl. In that first year in New York City, Grace Kelly met Prudence Wise who became a life long friend, personal secretary, and frequent correspondent. Offered is the largest known group of signed handwritten and typed letters, notes, personal photographs of Kelly and her children, and ephemera to come to market. The archive traces Grace Kelly’s remarkable journey from New York to Hollywood to Monaco in her own words in this substantial group of unpublished letters. View Lot
