Pedestal A (Marquetry Inlaid):
Appears to be in generally good, sturdy condition; appears to retain all of its mounts and the mounts appear to be consistent; there is wear and dulling to the gilding on the mounts, consistent with age and usage; the brass inlay bands for the most part are now missing; the small screws that secure the metal mounts to the case are not consistent, i.e., some are later replacements, and some screws are missing; there are some crack and separation lines to some of the mounts, including to various areas of the large oval wreath-shaped reserve on the front side, as well as to the smaller acanthus leaf-form mounts at the top corners of the pedestal;
The marquetry inlay reserve appears to be in nice, clean condition; there are split/cracks to the ebonized case, consistent with age and usage; some scuff marks/abrasions to the top surface
Pedestal B (Pietra Dura Mounted):
Appears to be in generally good, sturdy condition; the large oval wreath-shaped mount that surrounds the pietra dura reserve appears to be a later replacement: it seems that a later replacement cast was made from a mold of the original mount; the shape, size and decoration appear to be the same, however, the later oval mount lacks the definition and details that are evident on the original; furthermore, the coloration of the mount is now different as well: it has a white metal appearance rather than a golden tint or hue; otherwise, the pedestal appears to retain all of its other mounts and these mounts appear to be consistent; the mounts on both pedestals are consistent with each other; there is wear and dulling to the gilding on the mounts, consistent with age and usage; the brass inlay bands for the most part are now missing; the screws that secure the metal mounts to the case are not consistent, i.e., some are later replacements, and some screws are missing; there are some crack and separation lines to some of the mounts, including to various areas of the large oval wreath-shaped reserve on the front side, as well as to the smaller acanthus leaf-form mounts at the top corners of the pedestal;
There are some losses to the applied hard stone ornaments, including to a portion of a stem, located near the top of the reserve; there is a loss to a cherry, located in the upper right quadrant; there is a loss to a portion of the stem from which the large fruit hangs, above the left side of the ribbon near the bottom; and there is a small area of loss to the left tip edge of the stem where the bird is perched; there are split/cracks to the ebonized case, which are consistent with age and usage; some scuffing/abrasions to the top surface.
