Entitled "Metamorphosis," early 20th century

Modeled as a butterfly poised at rest, its filigree wings adorned with yellow enamel, set atop a naturalistic cocoon-like rocky base embellished with scattered flower blossoms, with a clasp which, when released, initiates a metamorphic action revealing a slumbering nude butterfly maiden rising with outspread wings, mounted on a stepped rectangular base of mottled grey and white marble, and inscribed C. Kauba.

Height overall closed 9 1/4 inches; height overall open 10 3/4 inches; height of bronze (excluding marble base) 7 3/4 inches; wingspan (open) 8 1/2 inches; width of marble base 3 5/8 inches, depth 7 7/8 inches.

appears to be in generally good, working condition; there is very some minor loss to some of the enamel work, commensurate with age, not of any great consequence; typical wear/rubbing/dulling to patina, particularly, at high points, including the butterfly's back, commensurate with age and handling, not of any consequence; some typical minor nicks to the marble rim edges, not of great consequence
