Of rectangular form, the hinged cover applied with five cast oval portrait medallions depicting ancient Roman heads, in side profile, in various sizes, with a wood lined interior, inscribed To the Fairbanks with many many thanks Lene, impressed TIFFANY & CO. MAKERS STERLING SILVER 233 25J. Height 1 5/8 inches, width 4 inches, depth 3 1/4 inches.
Marlene Dietrich was born Marie Magdalene Dietrich. She was nicknamed "Lene” among the family. Around the age of 11, she contracted her two first names to form the then-unusual name, Marlene. Later, she was affectionately known among her intimates as Lene.

Appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; typical light polishing scratch marks, not of any consequence; there are some very tiny, almost imperceptible, fleabite-size nicks to the rim edge of the cover, not of any consequence; the cover opens and closes properly; the interior is generally clean, i.e., not stained, however, there is silver polish residue and a uniform somewhat soiled appearance to the wood lining.
Approximately 12 ounces, all in; the box is possibly weighted.
