NEW YORK, NY -- Competiive bidding drove strong prices at Doyle's December 13, 2023 auction of Fine Jewelry, sending the sale total beyond expectations. This exciting sale showcased a wide array of stylish jewelry by Bulgari, Raymond Yard, Jean Mahie, David Webb, Van Cleef & Arpels and Tiffany & Co., as well as fine watches by Patek Philippe, Rolex and Piaget, and luxury handbags by Judith Leiber, Chanel and Hermès.
The selection of sparkling rings in the sale performed exceptionally well, led by a ring set with a round diamond of 2.42 carats, E color, VS2 clarity that achieved $18,900. Colored stones featured a ring centering an emerald-cut Sri Lankan sapphire of 13.38 carats that realized $17,640. Both rings exceeded their respective estimates.
Watches featured a handsome Patek Philippe gold minute repeater pocket watch that more than tripled its $3,000-5,000 estimate, achieving $13,860. The circa 1910-1915 open face pocket watch was signed by retailer Maier & Berkele Inc. of Atlanta, GA.
