Document signed by Alexander I, Tzar of Russia from 1801 to 1825. Single sheet, 10 x 7 3/4 inches (25 x 20 cm); dated March 25, 1825, at St. Petersburg, addressed to the head of the Order of St. Anna, granting Cavaliership to one Alexei Orlov, "presently serving as Secretary of the Office of Chief Ranger, for his outstanding and zealous service." Eight lines in an elegant secretarial Cyrillic hand, boldly signed by Alexander at right beneath the text, with date etc. at lower left. The document has a single fold, and otherwise appears to be in extremely fresh condition. It is framed with a 19th century engraved portrait of Alexander. Not examined out of frame.
