NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle will offer a timed online auction of Rare Books, Autographs & Maps closing on Thursday, August 13, 2026 beginning at 10am. This eclectic summer sale brings together such diverse offerings as Americana, literature, sporting books, manuscripts, travel and voyages, children's and illustrated books, fine bindings, autographs, maps and more.

The sale begins with a selection of Americana, lots 1–24, which is followed by a series of early maps of New York, lots 25–46. Lots 57–56 comprise a small and diverse selection of American and world maps. Lots 57–66 constitute a sequence of documents, some as early as the 14th century, the beginning of a series of early books and manuscripts, the Property of an Eminent Scholar. Included among the manuscripts is a letter from Cardinal Mazarin (lot 63, part); a series of letters in Italian of the 15th and 16th century, including five from the famous merchant house of Corsini (lot 60); an extraordinary manuscript on the Vatican court from the collection of Sir Thomas Phillipps (lot 64); and other intriguingly early material. Lots 67–135 are printed books from the same collection, which include an extensive array of incunabula as well as a good selection of post-incunables and other sixteenth-century books. This is succeeded by lots 136–165, a diverse array of books from 1600–1900, these from various consignors.

Changing themes, lots 167–189 comprises a group of English and American literature; then comes a small section of autographs, lots 190–193. Beginning with lot 194 comes a fine run of private press books (with a few books about books), these from an extensive private collection, offering runs of works from contemporary and classic private presses, including the Golden Cockerel Press, the Whittington Press, Gaylord Schanilec's Midnight Paper Sales, the Barbarian Press, the Fleece Press and many others. Included here are many works in their deluxe forms, some not previously offered at auction, including Schanilec's Sylvae (lot 237) and Mayflies of the Driftless Region (lot 240), several of the amazing books of Sarah Horowitz's Wiesedruck, including her Wildflowers (lot 252), Vogel Totentanz (lot 253) and Footprints (lot 254). Lot 255 begins a group of books on the fine and applied arts, illustration etc., after which comes a selection of fine binding lots (275–293). Ending the sale is a miscellany (294–315) and a small group of material pertaining to space (lots 316–330).

The Beatrice Dabney Adams Collection
From the collection of artist and early Paris Review illustrator Beatrice Dabney Adams is a group of original sketches and prints, as well as a selection of presidential memorabilia from her husband, Charles Francis Adams IV, a direct descendant of John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Featured are John Quincy Adams - His Connection with the Monroe Doctrine inscribed by Charles Francis Adams Jr., nine volumes of poetry signed by John Quincy Adams, and The Letters of Mrs. Adams, 1848. Bidding in the timed online auction will open on July 30 and close on August 13 beginning at 10am. Lots will close sequentially, one lot per minute, with a soft close. Should any bids be placed in the final minute, bidding will remain open on that lot for three (3) additional minutes.
