  • Comprising an Extensive Collection of Important 18th Century French Furniture and Decorations

  • Including Elegant Old Master Paintings and Drawings in a Diversity of Subjects

NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle is pleased to announce the two-day auction of Property of a Fifth Avenue Philanthropist on Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10am. This landmark auction showcases over 600 lots of important French furniture and decorations and Old Master paintings and drawings from an elegant Fifth Avenue apartment.

This exceptional collection was assembled over many years by an astute collector of great sophistication and refined taste. Among the numerous furniture highlights are four important 18th century French desks and writing tables (est. each $20,000-30,000), including an impressive Louis XVI mahogany bureau à cylindre attributed to Jean-François Oeben, the German-born ébéniste to Louis XV.

Artwork in the collection features a diverse selection of 18th and 19th century paintings and an extensive range of 17th and 18th century drawings rendered in the rich, warm tones of sanguine chalk.

Among the other notable offerings are delicate Chinese and Continental porcelains, silver, exquisite clocks and more.
