NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle is honored to auction property from the Estate of Elaine and James D. Wolfensohn in select auctions this season.

A titan of Wall Street, Australian-born James Wolfensohn (1933-2020) is best known for his stewardship of the World Bank. During his tenure as president from 1995-2005, he refocused the institution to its core mission: combating global poverty and empowering developing economies. Wolfensohn's influence extended beyond finance to cultural philanthropy. He spearheaded fundraising for Carnegie Hall and revitalized the Kennedy Center, all while becoming an accomplished cellist, performing on milestone birthdays with such luminaries as Issac Stern. For over forty years, his wife, Elaine Wolfensohn (1937-2020), fervently championed children and education while recognizing the profound impact of the arts on enriching the learning experience.
