Louis XVI Ormolu-Mounted Bois Satiné, Amaranth, Fruitwood Parquetry and Marquetry Secrétaire stamped E Lavesseur
The D-shaped three-quarter galleried white marble top above a conforming case fitted with a sping-loaded central drawer mounted with a plaque of putti above a tambour door with an oval reserve depicting a battle scene with soldiers and cannon, opening to an interior inlaid with a perspectival floor and rusticated walls and over two short drawers and a long drawer with a sliding leather-lined writing panel, the whole flanked by drawers swiveling outward above and below pierced galleried open shelves with inlaid rusticated backs, the lower section with a long drawer flanked by swiveling drawers, the right fitted for pens, raised on tapering fluted legs ending in octagonal sabots; the back stamped E. LEVASSEUR. Heigth 52 1./4 inches (132.8 cm), width 29 1/4 inches (74.3 cm), depth 14 inches (35.6 cm).
