Strong Prices for Works by American, European, Asian and Latin American Artists of the 20th and 21st Centuries
International Competitive Bidding from Buyers in the Salesroom, on the Telephones, and via the Internet
On May 25, 2011, Doyle New York held a successful auction of Modern & Contemporary Art. The sale showcased paintings, drawings and sculpture by important European, American, Latin American and Asian artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Strong international competitive bidding from the salesroom, the telephones and the Internet drove prices throughout the sale. This competition resulted in a strong total of $1,750,056 against a pre-sale estimate of $1,380,300-2,043,700 with 70% sold by lot and 89% sold by value.
The top lot was a circa 1942 untitled work by French artist Andre Masson that achieved $194,500, well over its pre-sale estimate of $50,000-70,000.
All prices include the Buyer's Premium.
