A collection of approximately 55 volumes. Various places and dates, imprints include McClurg, Burroughs, Grosset and others. Many first and early editions (including a worn copy of the first edition of Tarzan of the Apes), as well as early reprints, a 1920s pop-up book etc. All in publisher's cloth, about a dozen volumes retaining the dust jackets. Many volumes quite well read, many with some wear and soiling to the cloth bindings, still a decent collection.
One of the great publishing phenomena of the twentieth century, the Tarzan and Mars books of Burroughs have spawned endless movies, comics, and all manner of collectibles. This is a good basis for a research collection (or simply for amusing reading--Burroughs is nothing if not entertaining).
