EURIPIDES. The Plays... Newtown: Gregynog Press, 1931. One of 500 copies, of which this is one of an uncertain number (9? 18?) specially bound by George Fisher, this copy number 11. Two volumes bound as one, full chestnut levant morocco, covers with Grecian figures, surrounded by a frame of multiple gilt rules; signed on the rear bottom turn-in by George Fisher at the Gregynog Press Bindery. 14 3/4 inches (37 cm); binding 15 1/4 x 10 1/4 inches (39 x 26 cm), top edge gilt. xii pp. including title-page, 269; 263 pp., with colophons on the reverse of the final page. Illustrated with wood-engravings by R. A. Maynard throughout. Housed in the original felt-lined oak case.
Apparently (see next lot) not all copies were bound at the time. There seems no consensus as to how many copies were bound by Fisher, except that the number was small. Harrop 18; Zilverdistel 18.
