RARE BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN SIXTEEN-RIBBED BOTTLE VASE
Mid 14th century
Height 6 3/8 inches (16.2 cm)
The ribbed, melon-form vessel is raised on a wide, short flaring foot and is set with a cylindrical neck with everted mouth. The inside of the neck is set with a slab of porcelain pierced with seven holes, probably for holding flower stems. The body is decorated on alternating ribs with vertical vines bearing lingzhi, chrysanthemums, lilies, blackberries, camellias and others.
