Irving Penn: Mud Glove, 1974

PENN, IRVING (1917–2009)

Mud Glove (Neg. IV), 1972, printed November 1975. Platinum-palladium print on Rives paper, hand-coated by the photographer, 30 x 22 inches (762 x 558 mm), verso signed, dated, annotated and editioned 15 from the edition of 52 in pencil, with Penn's copyright stamp at the center and his "Deacidified" and "Hand-coated by the photographer" stamps.

Foresta and Stapp Irving Penn: Master Images Smithsonian Institution Press, 1990, cat. no. 52, p. 65; Penn Still Life Little, Brown and Co., 2001.

Norma Stevens represented Richard Avedon for thirty years, and her husband Martin (d. 2016) was an art and creative director for Revlon and other agencies.
