Large format scrapbook with photographs, 1960s.
A large pebbled black cloth album with approximately 100 card leaves with items affixed to both sides, 17 x 14 inches. Leaves brittle with some marginal losses, the clippings toned and few chipped or detaching, some items and leaves with old stains.
An album opening with several photographs, almost all full length portraits of Ms. Holm in fine and stylish dresses and jewelry, including two in color of Ms. Holm in red before a Rolls Royce; a mounted program for a Miami performance with husband Wesley Addy dated 15 November 1962; followed by mounted newspaper clippings and programs dated November 1962-August 1969. The clippings and other items document a fruitful and busy period in Ms. Holm's professional stage career, when she traveled extensively and performed nationally, including the tour of the highly popular Mame, for which Ms. Holm won the Sarah Siddons Society Award in Chicago in 1967. Other clippings document travels with Addy, her personal life and fashions, and much else. Playbills include Invitation to a March; With Love and Laughter; Madly in Love (3); The Night of the Iguana; Mame (including 2 large format programs); A card laid in from PR legend Benjamin Sonnenberg reads "You are perfect darling!" Other interesting articles discuss the role of theater in the late '60s environment. Also of note is much on Ms. Holm's considerable charitable efforts towards the World Federation for Mental Health, the American Red Cross and others.
