Seven volumes, full scarlet red morocco gilt by Bayntun for Brentano, covers with Napoleonic arms and emblems within an arched frame, spines in six compartments with imperial emblems, all edges gilt. 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches (22 x 13.5 cm); extra-illustrated with over 200 plates from a variety of sources, about 40 hand-colored. Some wear (the front joint of the first volume rubbed), spines a trifle dulled, overall a very attractive set.
This work contains the memoirs of Napoleon as dictated by him to Generals Gourgaud and Montholon on Saint Helena.
