London: Fisher, Son & Co., London etc. Three volumes bound as two, three-quarters burgundy calf of the period, cloth sides, all edges gilt, to match the previous work. 10 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches (27 x 21 cm); [4], 80 pp. with 37 plates (including vignette title); [4], 76 pp. with 37 plates (including vignette title); [4], 100, [2] pp., 46 plates and two maps. Some rubbing to the bindings, some toning, occasional minor marginal stain to the first volume of the first work, a minor touch of worming to the gutter of the preliminaries of the first volume of the second work, but all in all an attractive set, collating as per the plate lists (a few plates out of order); protective tissues throughout.
A nicely bound set in matched period bindings of these two classic collections of steel-engraved Middle Eastern views. Those in the first work are after Thomas Allom, those in the second after Bartlett and others.The first title is Atabey 1313, Blackmer 1764; the second is Blackmer 291.
