Engraved United States Military Academy diploma signed. West Point: 13 June 1922. Large engraved document accomplished in manuscript and signed by MacArthur as Brigadier General and several others. The diploma for cadet Cortlandt Van Rensselaer Schuyler. 24 x 18 inches (60 x 45 cm). Some foxing and stray stains to margins.
A very rare MacArthur signature from the period (1919-1922) in which he served as Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Cortlandt Van Rensselaer Schuyler would go on to become a four-star general who served as Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (COFS SHAPE) from 1953 to 1959. Rare: we trace only one other signed diploma in the auction record.
