HAMMERSTEIN, OSCAR II
Typed letter signed to Celeste Holm, 1944.
[New York:] 23 October 1944. One page typed letter signed "Oscar" on one sheet of his personal stationery, 10 x 7 1/4 inches, toned, with light handling creases and small stains in upper margin.
Hammerstein II here thanks Celeste Holm for remembering him on the opening of "Mama" which is a "great success" and congratulates her on her "own triumph", referring to the opening of Bloomer Girl on Broadway earlier that month. In closing he notes the letter seems "stodgy" and that he "meant it to be cleverer - whatever else - earnest and sincere and affectionate. Love, Oscar"
