Stated second edition, second issue with titles dated 1839. 3 volumes, early full red morocco gilt, the covers ruled in gilt, the spines tooled and lettered in gilt with raised bands, gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, the top edge gilt. 8 x 5 inches (20 x 13 cm); [iv], 331, [1] pp.; [iv], 307, [1] pp.; [iv], 315, [1] pp.; with all three half-titles, and 24 plates by George Cruikshank. Minor darkening and wear to bindings but an attractive set, ink gift inscription to blank of Volume I, small tribute labels celebrating Dickens birthday in 1912 to pastedowns, foxing to plates, spotting and stray stains to text, without a plate list (if issued with one), a sound copy, bookplates of W.H. Trelawny Ashton-Gwatkin.
