CATS
Siamese Warrior costume from the Original Broadway production of CATS.
The multi-colored costume with an eye motif and illuminated elements, without the headpiece, the interior inscribed WILSON with other names crossed out, this notation likely referring to original CATS cast member and longtime Broadway choreographer Darlene Wilson. This costume was worn in an early if not the original Broadway production of CATS in Growltiger's Last Stand, a dream sequence removed by later productions.

Donor: Pat Schoenfeld, wife of CATS producer Gerald Schoenfeld. The costume was bought at the CATS Garage Sale held September 16th, 2000 for the benefit of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, and in an article posted to Playbill.com Mrs. Schoenfeld recalled of her husband: "he did buy me some original Cats costumes once. They were being auctioned off for Broadway Cares, and he brought me home two of them: the Siamese and the very sleek cat with the stripes."

This lot is accompanied by a signed document certifying that this item was donated to The Actors Fund and 100% of the hammer price will benefit The Actors Fund.
