Finely bound in full crimson morocco signed Robertson, the covers with gilt cornerpieces, the spines with raised bands and gilt tooling, gilt turn-ins, top edge gilt, the original cloth bindings bound-in at rear of each volumes. 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches (19.5 x 12.5 cm); 348, 342, 377 pp., half-title to Second Series, with 16 plates to the First Series and 10 to the Second Series (the frontispiece here bound at p. 217) all after George Cruikshank, bound without ads. Some spotting or browning at edges, an attractive set with one small nick to the spine of Vol. III.
Sketches by "Boz" was Dickens first work to be published in book form.
