Muster-in roll for an African-American soldier
. Key West, FL: 18 August 1864. Partly printed document accomplished in manuscript mustering in Carlton Seymour as a First Lieutenant the 2nd Regiment of Colored Troops Infantry. 11 x 17 inches (28.5 x 44 cm). A few very minor splits along folds; Together with an 1861 Kentucky slave document. Lincoln County, KY: 24 July 1861. Manuscript deed gifting five slaves from a father to his daughter, the slaves are listed by name and age. A few short splits and small stains; And a civil war letter and photograph from an unknown Union soldier to his wife from Camp Grover, MD, November 1862 ("Last night we heard that the rebels had taken Harper's Ferry"), the photograph a formal tintype portrait of an unidentified Union soldier.
