  • Auction of Prints & Multiples on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11am

  • Including a Selection of Picasso Ceramics

  • Consignments Are Currently Being Accepted for Future Auctions

NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle will hold an auction of Prints and Multiples on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11am. Showcased will be prints spanning the 17th century to the present day, including fine examples of Old Master prints, Modern European prints, American prints and works by Contemporary artists. Also featured will be ceramics by Pablo Picasso.

Highlights include prints by Marc Chagall, Helen Frankenthaler, David Hockney, Alex Katz, Ellsworth Kelly, Martin Lewis, Roy Lichtenstein, Henri Matisse, Joan Miró, Frank Stella, Wayne Thiebaud and Andy Warhol.

From the Estate of Elaine and James D. Wolfensohn is Roy Lichtenstein’s complete portfolio La Nouvelle Chute de L’Amerique (The New Fall of America) with text by poet Allen Ginsberg. This important work comprises ten signed and numbered etchings and aquatints depicting ordinary imagery which the artist transforms into commentary on contemporary American culture utilizing his signature Pop style.

Certain to attract attention is a group of ceramic vases, pitchers and plates by Pablo Picasso (lots 116-129). Picasso was at his home in the south of France in 1946 when he visited George and Suzanne Ramie at their nearby Madoura Pottery factory and was entranced by their work. The following year he began to make his own ceramics there, eventually creating more than 3,000 objects over the next 25 years.
