Original sketch for a gown worn by Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief. Design for Paramount Pictures, circa 1955. Gouache, pencil and ink sketch on paper with added white. Signed "Edith Head" and identified as for "Grace Kelly" in ink at lower left, with pencil notations "#8, test? add cape?" on right side with the note "designed" in the upper right corner in pencil. The sheet measures 14 3/4 x 11 inches (37.5 x 28 cm). Framed. Uneven top edge with remnants of spiral binding, faint spotting to left side, light toning to margins, light wear to corners from handling, short tear at lower left edge.
