NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle is honored to auction jewelry from the Carolyn Pesnell Amory Collection. An exceptional individual with impeccable style and grace, she led a life rich with glamour, excitement and generosity of spirit.

A gracious hostess, Mrs. Amory loved welcoming guests to her homes in New York City, Tuxedo Park, Nantucket and Montecito, CA, where she entertained with effortless ease. Always elegant, her dinner parties were renowned for their lively conversations and, at times, an impromptu performance of her favorite aria, Summertime, at the piano. An avid reader, skilled bridge player and cruciverbalist, she continually sought to expand her field of knowledge and embraced intellectual challenges with enthusiasm.

A generous philanthropist, Mrs. Amory was active in a wide range of organizations and civic affairs, earning her local, national and international recognition. She was honored with damehood in the Venerable Order of St John by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and was presented with the Vermeil Medal of the City of Paris by Jacques Chirac, as well as accolades from three United States Presidents. She further distinguished herself as the first female elected National Trustee of the Boys Club of America and the first elected female chairperson of the American Cancer Society, NYC division. Other philanthropies include The Museum of the City of New York, The Central Park Conservancy, and The French Heritage Society in New York, as well as Direct Relief International, the Elings Park Foundation, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in Santa Barbara, California.
