Design on a Dime 2019

NEW YORK, NY -- Be inspired and shop for a worthy cause at Housing Works’ annual Design on a Dime benefit event showcasing rooms by the most innovative designers from across the country. View and shop the installations at New York’s Metropolitan Pavilion on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Now in its 15th year, Design on a Dime invites the most innovative designers from across the country to create spectacular and distinctive spaces from furniture, art and decor donated by top brands and then sold post-exhibition at up to 80% off retail price. Proceeds from the event support Housing Works’ mission to end the dual crises of HIV and homelessness. For over 25 years, Housing Works has pioneered crucial fundraising for lifesaving health services, housing and social justice advocacy for New Yorkers. Across the city, Housing Works is known as much for its committed activism as for its exceptional thrift shops.

Last month, Hayloft Auctions was delighted to welcome two of the hottest tastemakers in interior design, Miles Redd of Redd Kaihoi and Nick Olsen of Nick Olsen, Inc. to handpick items for their installations. Both designers reimagined objects donated by Hayloft Auctions to incorporate into their inspiring rooms at Design on a Dime.

Design on a Dime was founded in 2004 by the designer James Huniford, and has raised over $15 million since its beginning. It now hosts annual benefit events in both New York and Miami. Preceding this year's event were the Design on a Dime Opening Night Reception and the seventh annual Housing Works Groundbreaker Awards Dinner honoring leaders in the fight against HIV and homelessness. The 2019 honorees were Portia de Rossi, Founder & CEO, General Public; Jim Shrive, President and CEO of BACCARAT, North America; and Darren Walker, President of Ford Foundation.
