NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle is honored to auction property from the Estate of Nancy Hoguet Tilghman as a featured section of the March 31 Doyle at Home sale. A Rothschild family heir, Ms. Tilghman was the granddaughter of Baron Alphonse and Baroness Clarice von Rothschild of the Austrian banking family, who immigrated to New York in 1938. Her paternal grandfather Dr. Joseph Peter Hoguet was a prominent surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Professor of Surgery at Cornell.
Ms. Tilghman was educated at The Masters School and Barnard College, then pursued a career in journalism, first as a CNN field producer, then as a New York Times freelance writer, finally becoming the New York Editor at Huffington Post. Inheriting the Rothschild passion for art, she earned a Master's in Contemporary Art and assisted German and French speaking collectors with their art collections. A gifted water colorist, she received her Botanical Art and Illustration Certification at the New York Botanical Garden.
Ms. Tilghman was a member of the Colony Club, Piping Rock Club, Bathing Corporation of Southampton and the Meadow Club. She served on the Women and Foreign Policy Program Advisory Council at the Council on Foreign Relations and co-founded "Women's Partnership for Science" at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. She was a generous supporter of Memorial Sloan Kettering, The Boys and Girls Club of America and Fountain House.
Property from the Estate of Nancy Hoguet Tilghman features furniture, decorations, art and more from her home on Long Island’s North Shore. With architecture by Kevin Lindores and interior design by Daniel Sachs, the home was published by Architectural Digest in 2016. The stylish furnishings reflect a fresh, 21st century interpretation of Le Goût Rothschild.
