NEW YORK, NY -- International bidding drove strong results at Doyle's auction of Russian Works of Art on October 15, 2025, sending the sale total beyond expectations. Showcased were exceptional objects dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries, including Fabergé, enamels, silver, porcelain and icons from American collections and estates.
The sale was highlighted by a rare Russian silver-gilt and champlevé enamel tea and coffee service by Khlebnikov, Moscow, 1884, that achieved $108,450. One of Imperial Russia’s most celebrated jewelry firms, Khlebnikov enjoyed immense prestige during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, earning the distinguished title of Supplier to the Imperial Court. The firm was renowned for its exquisite decorative silver and enamel work that masterfully reinterpreted traditional Russian motifs and folk art.
Another outstanding example of Russian enamel craftsmanship was a silver-gilt and cloisonné enamel two-handled bowl by Orest Kurliukov, Moscow, 1899-1908, that realized $54,400, many times its estimate of $10,000-12,000.
Additional Categories in the Sale
Special sections of the sale also presented Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Prints and English & Continental Silver on Oct 15, and English & Continental Furniture & Decorative Arts on Oct 16.
