NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle's auction on January 28, 2025 saw strong prices for Old Master & 19th Century Paintings & Drawings spanning the Italian Renaissance through the early 19th century. Showcased was a wide range of landscapes, still lifes, portraits and religious subjects.
Old Master highlights featured several views of Venice that performed strongly, led by a View of the Doge's Palace and the Piazzetta from the Bacino San Marco from the School of Canaletto that soared past its $8,000-12,000 estimate to achieve $41,600.
Among the 19th century paintings were Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot’s Canteleu, près de Rouen from 1871 and Eugène Louis Boudin’s Entrée du Port du Havre from 1864 that sold for the identical price of $51,200.
