NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle will hold an auction of Latin American Art on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 11am. Comprising lots 93–151 the offerings present paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints by prominent artists of the 20th and 21st centuries representing Central and South America, and the Caribbean.

Among the wide range of works are examples by Angel Botello, Marisol Escobar, Diego Rivera, Ricardo Martínez de Hoyos, Francisco Zúñiga, Sénèque Obin, and Cuban artists Manuel Mendive, Roberto Fabelo, Juan Roberto Diago, Antonio Gattorno, and a 1981 sculpture by Edgar Negret (Read More).

Featured in the sale is a group of paintings and sculpture by Manuel Mendive (Cuban, b. 1944), whose work draws deeply on Afro-Cuban spirituality, mythology and Yoruba traditions. His dreamlike compositions often feature human, animal and spiritual figures rendered in a distinctive, richly symbolic style.

Venezuelan-American artist and sculptor Marisol (1930–2016) connected Pop to Pre-Colombian art and Surrealism. Though Marisol received early public acclaim for her mixed media sculptures in the 1960s, the artist had moved on to a series of vividly colorful figurative works paper by the 1970s. From 1974, King of Hearts is a dreamy silhouette, both bright and mysterious.
