NEW YORK, NY – Doyle held a sucessful auction of English & Continental Silver on October 15, 2025 that saw detemined competition drive the sale total beyond expectations. Bidders vied for fine examples of English, Irish, German, Dutch, French and Italian silver by prominent makers of the 18th through 20th centuries.
Trophies from the Collection of Gerolamo Etro
Featured in the sale was a group of silver trophies from the Collection of Gerolamo Etro, founder of the Italian luxury fashion house, ETRO. The winning lot was an impressive Victorian sterling silver two handled cup by Elkington & Co., London, dated 1871, that realized $9,600. The cup was engraved Seventh Dragoon Guards Regimental Challenge Cup with the names of winners from 1870 to 1879. View Lots
