NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle held a highly successful auction of Fabergé & Vertu on May 23, 2023. Featured were exquisite objects dating from the 17th century to the 20th century, including Fabergé, vertu, silver and icons.
Highlighting the sale was a superb Gem-Set Silver-Gilt and Cloisonné Enamel Icon of Christ Pantocrator by Ovchinnikov from a Private New York Collection. Determined collectors drove the bidding soaring over its estimate of $25,000-35,000 to achieve a stunning $195,300.
With competitive bidding, the Fabergé & Vertu totaled an exceptional $837,042, more than doubling the pre-sale estimate of $325,550-483,650.
Also featured in the May 23 session was English, Continental & American Silver comprising lots 88 - 241. A second session on May 24 offered Old Master & 19th Century Paintings & Drawings and English & Continental Furniture & Decorative Arts.
Competition from collectors around the globe on May 23-24 drove the combined sales total to $2 million!
