NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle held a successful auction of Impressionist & Modern Art on May 11, 2022 that saw prices soar and a sale total that topped $3.2 million. The sale showcased fine European and American paintings, drawings and sculpture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The offerings spanned Academic and Barbizon art through Impressionism and Post-Impressionism to German Expressionism and early Modernism.

With competitive international bidding, the sale totaled a strong $3,284,642, surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $1,916,600-2,963,100, with 84% sold by lot and 100% sold by value.

William-Adolphe Bouguereau
Highlighting the sale was a masterful depiction of the female form by William-Adolphe Bouguereau (French 1825-1905) that achieved a stunning $258,300, more than doubling its $70,000-100,000 estimate. Le Pho
The sale also saw exceptionally strong prices for works by Vietnamese/French artist Le Pho (1907-2001) that more than tripled their respective estimates. View Lots
