NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle’s successful auction on April 26, 2022 showcased a wide selection of Prints and Multiples spanning the 17th through 21st centuries. The sale offered fine examples of Old Master prints, Modern European prints, American prints and works by Contemporary artists. Also featured are ceramics by Pablo Picasso.
With competitive international bidding, the sale totaled a successful $1,773,737, surpassing the pre-sale estimate of $916,250-1,371,000, with an impressive 92% sold by lot and 100% sold by value.
Highlights featured a hand-woven Aubusson wool tapestry after Fernand Léger (1881-1955) titled Les Constructeurs that more than doubled its $40,000-60,000, realizing $126,000.
Also achieving $126,000 was a 1967 color screenprint of Marilyn by Andy Warhol (1928-1987), which highlighted a special section of the auction devoted to Warhol's New York.
