HALSTON Eight original fashion design drawings with figures in pairs by Roy Halston (1932-1990).
Eight original fashion sketches on lined paper, each 12 1/2 x 8 inches (33 x 20 cm), unsigned, comprising eight various sketches of figures in pairs being front and back designs for dresses, swim suits, etc. Fine.
These designs were drawn in the presence of and gifted to Nancy North, Halston model, personal confidant and wife of Halston designer Bill Dugan.
Of these drawings, Nancy North describes the first sketch as "a two piece dress with embroidered top and black skirt worn dancing to Studio 54 or out to fancy dinner"; the second "I love that dress with raised waistline, it creates that long lean look"; the third as another version of second; of the dramatic fourth sketches, Nancy recalls Halston "thought of Fellini's Juliet of the Spirits"; of the fifth, Halston was "back to his obsession with wrap dresses"; the sixth provides "more neckline thoughts"; in the seventh, Halston "just keeps drawing that empire waistline"; and of the eighth, the swimsuit, "my shirred, thigh high bathing suit in aqua polyester, hmmm!"
